IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald James
Simpson
April 3, 1937 – September 12, 2025
Donald James Simpson, 88, of Allegan, MI passed away Friday, September 12, 2025 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. Born April 3, 1937 in Detroit, he was the son of the late Archie and Helen (Reichenbach) Simpson and was the husband of Cynthia Anne (Grocholski) Simpson. Donald retired from the Eastman Kodak Company where he had worked for over thirty-four years. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where he volunteered with the Good Samaritans. Donald was a very laid back and easy-going man who enjoyed being home surrounded by family more than anything. His grandchildren were the light of his life and, in turn, they always sought him out for wisdom and advice. Donald always took them traveling and on great adventures. When they were not out and about, they would relax in his favorite lounge chair; Donald was an awesome snuggler!
In addition to his wife of sixty-two years, he is survived by his daughters, Leslie (James) Maunz and Donna Simpson; grandchildren, Lindsay Maunz (Jared Calvert), Christopher Maunz (Deanna Bunn) Kyle (Emilee) Gabrielse and Caitlin (Chas) Ludlow; great-granddaughter, Wrenlee; sister, Elaine (Bob) Skrentner; niece, Melissa (Kyle) Uittenbogaard; nephew, Jeff Skrentner; and great-nieces, Brittany and Courtney Uittenbogaard. Along with his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Simpson.
A memorial mass will take place at 10:00 AM on Monday, September 29, 2025 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Allegan. Donald will be laid to rest following the mass at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church Cemetery.
