Donald Paul Krause, 70, of Allegan, MI passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at his home. Born April 20, 1951, in Allegan, he was the son of the late Leo George and Rose Mary (Krcatovich) Krause and was the husband of Linda Marie (Reynolds) Krause, with whom he would have celebrated fifty years of marriage in July. Donald was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He worked as a splicer in the telephone industry, first for General Telephone and, later, Verizon, for over thirty years prior to retirement. Don enjoyed spending his free time outdoors. He loved to go fishing and hunting as well as hiking and birdwatching. Don was also talented craftsman who made beautiful wood carved walking sticks and figurines. When he was not outside enjoying nature, he liked to relax by reading a good book. A lifelong learner with unending curiosity, Don enjoyed puzzles, travel, and connecting with friends and family. Don worked as a volunteer firefighter with Allegan Fire Department for many years. Above all else, he was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who especially found great joy in the time spent with his granddaughters going rock hunting and tree-tipping. In addition to his wife, Linda, Donald is survived by his daughters, Nikki (James) DeGroff and Stacy (Justin) Tran; siblings, Leo Krause, Jr., Roger Krause and Rosalee (Michael) Norman; and his two beloved granddaughters, Kylee Krause and Raelyn DeGroff as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins, who lovingly called him "Donny". The family will receive friends at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A memorial mass will begin at 11:00 AM celebrated by Rev. Fr. Christopher Derda. Donald will be laid to rest in the church cemetery immediately following.
