of Allegan, died Thursday, December 4, 2008 at the Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. Mr. Hawley was born January 29, 1942, in Ionia, the son of Melvin and Betty (Randall) Hawley. Don loved the outdoors, he spent 50 years of his life as a "shade tree" mechanic, and also loved to hunt and spend time in the field. In 1984, Don married Laura, down in Florida, and they continued to spend the next 24 years together. Surviving are his wife, Laura; 5 children, Jeffrey Hawley, Melissa Ryan, Richard Cheyne, Russell Cheyne all of Allegan and Kathryn Cheyne of Gobles; 17 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Doris Bular of Martin and Jeanne and Rick LaFountain of Otsego; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his 3 brothers, Ron, Doug and Gary. Don has been cremated. There will be no services. Arrangements by the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel.
