Obituary

of Allegan, formerly of Hopkins, died on Sunday, June 3, 2012, at the Wings Home in Allegan. Mr. Cadman was born April 10, 1933, in Grand Rapids, the son of Earl and Eleanor (Koenie) Wood. Don worked for over 25 years at Oven Fresh in Grand Rapids, and was a member of the Teamsters Union 406. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving in Korea, and was a Veteran of the United States Navy, serving in Vietnam. He had received 2 Purple Hearts, and was on the cover of Life Magazine in 1950. Don was also the face on a stamp that was issued to commemorate the 32nd Anniversary of the Armistice, which formally ended the fighting. Surviving are his wife, Shirley "Frankie", his 5 children; Donald Jr. Cadman and Sue Bentley, Debra and Robert Moore, Doreen Reurink, David and Margaret Cadman, and Denise and Larry Button, his 4 step children; Lisa and Lat Diakhate, Teresa Stewart, Peter and Linda Stewart, and Lorrie Stewart, 15 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, his brother, Charles Cadman, 4 sisters; Jeannie Biglowe, Dorothy Tylzynski, Margie Carpenter, and Cathy Cadman, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Don was preceded in death by his first wife, Gwendolyn, of 50 years, and his son, Greg, and sister, Ruth. A Military Graveside service will be conducted by the Otsego VFW Post 3030, at Maplewood Cemetery, Hopkins Twp., on Friday, June 8, at 1 pm. Memorials may be made to the Wings Home, Allegan. Arrangements by the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel.
