Allegan, MI, died Friday, November 26, 2004 at Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo. Mr. Stone was born January 16, 1926 in Hopkins, MI, the son of Erle and Esther (Grinage) Stone. He graduated from Allegan High School in 1944 and from Western Michigan University. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Air Force. He was a member of the First Baptist Church for 60 years, had served on the Trustee Board, and most recently as chairman of the Building Committee and very instrumental in helping guide the construction of the new church building. Stoney had been employed by Carl Goodwin & Sons for 27 years and was presently employed by Milbocker & Sons Construction where he had worked for the past 25 years. Surviving are his wife, Ruth A.(Goodwin); 1 son and his wife, Don E. and Bonnie Stone of Allegan; 1 son-in-law, Thomas and Cheryl Garlock of Wilmington, Ohio; 4 grandchildren, Dessie (Scott) Caulk, Heidi Stone, Marc Garlock and D'Arcy Erle Stone; 1 great grandson, Brendan Garlock; 1 brother and his wife, Jerry and Virginia Stone of Colorado; several nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts. He was preceded in death by 2 children, Carl E. Stone and Katherine Garlock. Friends may meet with the family from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. Pastor James H. Turner officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery, Allegan, MI, Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church.
