Obituary

of Allegan, died Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at the Ely Manor Nursing Home in Allegan. Mr. Johnson was born July 10, 1920, in Lawrence, the son of Roe and Margie (Utter) Johnson. Don was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving in WWII, from 1942-1945. He retired from Rockwell Int. after 35 years of service. Don was a very active member of the Masonic Lodge in Allegan, serving as a Grand Master 3 terms. Surviving are his wife, Betty, 4 children; Deb and Al Slotman, Denise and Fred Lamphere, De and Jim Smith, Diane and Craig Warner, 18 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 4 brothers; Carl and Marge, Marvin, Rocky and Joann, and Rex, 2 sisters; Alice Jones and Ruby Hyde, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves behind his special companion, Nuisance, his cat. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Normalee, his son, Jack, 2 brothers; Clair and Bob, and his sister, Bernice. Friends may meet with the family on Saturday, April 20, from 12 noon till service time at 1 pm, at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. The Masonic Lodge of Allegan will conduct the services. Interment Poplar Hill Cemetery, Monterey Twp. Memorials may be made to the Wings of Hope Hospice.
