Dennis E. Allen, 63, of Allegan died unexpectedly on Friday, October 22, 2010 at home. He was born on March 21, 1947 in Allegan the son of Wesley and Francine (Cornell) Allen. He was a 1965 graduate of Allegan High School and a lifelong Allegan resident. Dennis retired in September from Perrigo after 41 years of dedicated service. He held several positions over the years, most recently in research and development. Dennis was strong in his faith. He had attended Allegan Assembly of God and was currently attending Cornerstone Christian Center in Plainwell. He loved raising and racing harness horses and was a member of the Michigan Harness Horseman's Association and the United States Trotting Association. He had a kind heart and he loved his family and friends, who will remember him as the "gentle giant" and the "big guy". On February 20, 1971 Dennis married Pauline M. Sill, his wife and companion of over 39 years. In addition to Pauline he is survived by his three daughters, Dorie (Buzz) Galloway of Allegan, Stephanie (Ernest) Holloway of South Haven and Denise (Brent) Lane of Anchorage, Alaska; his five grandchildren, Haley and Nicole Galloway, Esther and Dennis Holloway and Paxton Lane; his sister, Vickie (Terry) Moored of Allegan; brothers-in-law, Warren Sill, William (Joann) Sill and Edward (Betty) Sill all of South Haven; and his nieces and nephews, Jodi Moored, Michael (April) Moored, Johnny Moored, Kelsey Sill, Abby (Jayare) Erikson and Jeremy (Lori) Sill. The family will meet with friends from 5-8pm on Wednesday, October 27th at Allegan Assembly of God, 424 Delano St. where memorial services will be held on Thursday, October 28th at 11:00am. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Cornerstone Christian Center, 611 10th St., Plainwell, MI 49080.
