age 73, of Allegan, passed away Friday, March 7, 2014 in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born July 12, 1940 in Holland, Michigan, the daughter of Evert and Joan (Knoll) DeWeerd. Delores retired as a school teacher from Longfellow after 35 years. She enjoyed volunteering at the First Congregational Church, Food Pantry, as well as at Allegan General Hospital. She was a member of Allegan Eagles for over 25 years. She was also a member of the Holland VFW. Delores enjoyed doing her Zumba twice a week, loved gambling and traveling. She loved her friends and family. She will definitely be missed. Delores is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Todd and Lisa Alofs; her grandson Hunter; her brother Erv DeWeerd; her sister Mary (Jim) Nienhuis; her nephew Joe; and her nieces Jennifer and Brooke. She is preceded in death by her husband David and her sister-in-law Peggy DeWeerd. Friends may visit with the family for a Remembrance Gathering on Thursday, March 20, 2014 from 5-7:00 P.M. at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. A Prayer Service will be held that evening at 6:30 P.M. Pastor Jon Vugteveen will be officiating. Memorial Contributions may be made to: American Cancer Society, P.O.
