David Paul Oakley, age 54, of Inkster, Michigan, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2016 at his home. Mr. Oakley was born on January 26, 1962, in Garden City, Michigan, the son of Richard E. and Janet M. (Jessie) Oakley. David was a 1980 graduate of St. Clair High School and went on to earn his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Michigan Tech in Houghton, Michigan. He moved to Seattle, Washington and worked for the Boeing Company for 10 years before returning to Michigan, where he worked in construction, along with lighting and sound. He also volunteered his talents and helped to restore the Allegan Regent Theatre. David then became the owner and operator of his own online book store. David had a lifelong love of the outdoors, computers, anything to do with music from playing to recording and just tinkering. He is survived by his parents, Richard and Janet; 2 brothers: Stevan (Virginia) Oakley and Darrell Oakley; 1 sister: Karen (William Knarian) Oakley; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Friends may meet with the family at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, on Saturday, February 20th from 1-3pm, where a Celebration of Life service will take place at 3pm, David's father, Richard Oakley, will preside over the eulogy.
