David George Bloss, 80, of Allegan, MI passed away Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Briarwood Assisted Living Center surrounded by his family.  Born December 23, 1943 in Allegan, he was the son of the late Lawrence "Pete" Richard Bloss and Dorothy Mae (Brower) Bloss.  David spent the first twenty-four years of his life living on the family land until 1967 when he married Sheryl Lynn Thompson and they moved on to begin their own adventure, later returning to the family land to continue raising their own family.  Together they shared 50 happy years and made many memories prior to her passing in 2017.  In January 1964 David started working for Rockwell International in Allegan.  He spent most of his years at Rockwell working in the Heat Treat Department.  When Rockwell moved to Iowa, David was hired by Hamilton Farm Bureau where he drove trucks for the egg department.

David enjoyed home life with the loves of his life, Sheri, and his daughters, Jodi and Nan.  He liked taking care of the extensive mowing, caring for the pond, and clearing trails through the woods for walking and ATV riding.  If he wasn't at home, one of his favorite places to be was vacationing in the UP.  David especially loved watching the big freighters up close at the Soo Locks.  His fun was multiplied when the girls married and grandchildren Zac, Alex, Ashlyn and Sonya came along.  He and Sheri enjoyed taking their grandchildren and going to tractor shows with their John Deere tractors.  Along with his love of tractors, David also loved building and flying ultralight airplanes in his spare time.  He also enjoyed spending time at family get-togethers with his brothers and sisters and their families and at the Annual Brower Family Reunion with aunts, uncles and cousins.  David loved to make people laugh.  He was a non-stop jokester who always seemed to have something up his sleeve to put a smile on your face but was also always there to lend a hand to anyone who needed it.

David is survived by his daughters, Jodi (Timothy) Bloss-Ehnis and Nan (Steven) Houtman; siblings, Patricia (Joe) Skultety, Paul (Kim) Bloss and Pam (Craig) Chopp; siblings-in-law, Royal (Joyce) Thompson, Rhonda (Terry) Worden and Laurie Courtney; grandchildren, Zachary, Alexander, Ashlyn and Sonya; mother-in-law, Thelma Thompson; and many nieces and nephews.  Along with his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Phil Bloss; his brother-in-law, Robbie Thompson; father-in-law, Roy "J" Thompson; and nephews, Nathan Bloss and Greg Courtney.

The family will receive friends at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, on Monday, January 15, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with an informal memorial service beginning at noon.
