David A. Alofs, Valley Twp., Allegan, MI, died Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at his home. Mr. Alofs was born April 12, 1939 in Elkhart, IN, the son of Simon and Dorothy (Wert) Alofs. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was past president of the Eagles and loved to fish. He had been employed at Bay Castings in Holland for several years. He was a union bricklayer for many years and started Alofs Masonry. He was a webmaster for www.quackerattacker.net but his real love was produce farming, which he did for many years. Surviving are his wife, Delores (DeWeerd); 1 son, Todd and Lisa Alofs of Hamilton; 1 grandson, Hunter; 2 sisters, Carol and Duane Brink and Beverly and Bob Shephard, all of Arizona; 1 brother-in-law, Ervin and Peggy DeWeerd of Holland; 1 sister-in-law, Mary and James Nienhuis of Byron Center; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may meet with the family from 12 noon Sunday until time of memorial service at 1 p.m. at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, Rev. Gary Luurtesema from East Saugatuck Christian Reformed Church officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice.
