Dann died on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at home after a one year illness. He was born on January 31, 1944 in Allegan to Donn and Wilhemina "Billie" (Wendt) Jones. He graduated from Allegan High School in 1963 and was a lifelong Allegan resident. Dann had a lifelong interest in entertaining others. His greatest joy was to make children smile through his magic and ventriloquism programs in schools. He had visited schools in all 48 continental states. He was also an accomplished artist and cartoon caricaturist. He recently painted a portrait of local historian John Pahl, which was presented to the Allegan Historical Society. Dann was an avid outdoorsman and nature lover and had taught classes on wilderness survival. He was also fond of Native American culture and crafts. Dann was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his brother and sister-in-law, Rodger and Rita Jones of Allegan; nephews, Rick Jones of Otsego and Randy Jones of East Lansing; a great niece, Rachel Jones and great nephews, Ryan, Luke and Max Jones. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at: Gorden Funeral Residence Allegan Chapel where visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5-8 p m. (Please note, days of service are incorrect in Monday Kalamazoo Gazette) Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Allegan. Memorial contributions may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice.
