of Allegan, died Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. Mr Smith was born October 11, 1929, in Vicksburg, the son of Clark and Dorothea (Schilling) Smith. Dale was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean Conflict. He drove trucks for North American Van Lines for many years, and loved to build projects with wood. Surviving are his 3 children; Debra Jo Ness of Arizona, Mike Smith of Arizona, Bruce Smith of Alabama, 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 2 brothers; C.Edwin and Lillian Smith of Kalamazoo, and Howard "Bill" and Jean Smith of Vicksburg, his sister, Charlotte Smith of Portage. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gene, grandson, Jason, and brother, Paul. Friends may meet with the family on Sunday, June 3, from 1pm till service time at 3 pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Private interment will take place in Portage Central Cemetery.
