Dale Eugene Simonds passed away January 19, 2017 peacefully at home in his sleep after battling a long illness. He was born September, 14, 1954 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. Dale served in the United States Army for 14 years. Some of his interests included hunting, fishing, camping, family and friends, good humor and traveling. He leaves behind his wife, Lucy DeYoung Simonds of 42 years; his babies, Sophie, Wizzie and Cookie; and his step-son, Gene. Dale is also survived by his siblings, Ralph and Ruth Simonds, Lavern, Michael and Deborah Simonds, Margret and Jimmie Wrights, Kaye Fortune and Kenneth and Barbara Keckler; nieces, Ruth, Jr., April, Meghan, Jamie, Deborah, Jr., Samantha, Devenn, Trish, Rosa, Ruth, Jennifer, Terry, Tanya, Deann and Michelle; nephews, Ralph, Jr., James, Jeremy, Steven, Anthony, Perry, Jimmie Jr., Willie, Bruce, Bob, Brian, Daniel, Bobdie, Josh, Carter, Scott, Rusty, Logen and Troy; as well as several great nieces and nephews. Dale was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine Eleanor Wilkinson Simonds; father, James Douglas Simonds; brothers, Ted Simonds; brother-in-law, Richard DeYoung; and nephew, Michael Fullinton. The family will receive friends at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, on Monday, January 23, 2017 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM with a time of sharing to begin at 2:30 PM. A second visitation will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 beginning at 11:00 AM followed by procession to Fort Custer National Cemetery for a 2:00 PM funeral service with Military Honors.
