Dale Elroy "Red" Schraeder, 90, of Hopkins, MI passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at his home.  Born June 2, 1934 in Jamestown, MI, he was the son of the late Carl H. and Edith (Loew) Schraeder and was the husband of the late Dorothy (Nicholson) Schraeder.  Red served in the United States Air Force for four years during the Korean War He and served on Hopkins Fire Department for many years.  He was a faithful Christian and attended Hopkins United Methodist Church, recently attending classes to become a member.  He also enjoyed attending Senior Meals at the church hall where he played Bingo and joined the singing.  Red was quite handy and was able to tackle many projects for himself and others.  He loved the time he spent visiting his son in North Carolina and enjoyed helping him with his tree service while he was in town.  Red was known as the "Flea Market King" and was passionate about his work buying and selling.  He stayed active in the market until May of this year when his health would no longer allow it.

Red is survived by his son, Darryl (Kimberly) Schraeder of North Carolina; grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Anna; and great-grandchild, Myla Rose.  Along with his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Duane Schraeder and Kenneth Schraeder and a sister, Joyce Earl.  A very special thank you is extended to Red's niece, Deb Schwartz and her husband, Lynn, for the wonderful care they provided.

A graveside service will take place at Poplar Hill Cemetery on Monday, December 16, 2024 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Kelsey French officiating.  A celebration of Red's life will be held at the Hopkins United Methodist Church on January 22 at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon following in the church hall.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
