Obituary

Trowbridge Twp., Allegan, MI, died Thursday, July 17, 2008 at his home. Mr. Nordquist was born July 22, 1924 in Chicago, IL the son of George N. and Esther V. (Nelson) Nordquist. He was 100% Swedish. He was a graduate of Allegan High School, class of 1943. On June 5, 1948, in Fennville he married Doris (Heinen) on her parent's farm. She preceded him in death in 2004. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII. He was in the hog business for 26 years, and had been employed at Rockwell Int'l for 30 years, retiring in 1976. He was a member of the Allegan Snowmobile Club, was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved farming, the outdoors, and watching Detroit Tiger Baseball. He didn't eat to live, but lived to eat. Surviving are 1 sister, Gladys Schulz of Allegan; 2 grandchildren, Dawn and Deanna; 2 sisters-in-law, Eloise Leversee of Kalamazoo, and June Andrews of St. Joe; several nephews and 1 niece. He was also preceded in death by a brother, George Jr. and brother-in-law, Andy. Friends may meet with the family from 3-5 p.m. Sunday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. Pastor Gail Pike officiating. Interment Mallory Cemetery, Trowbridge Twp. Memorial contributions may be made to Dollars for Scholars or Wings of Hope Hospice.
