Obituary

Allegan, MI, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2004 after a long illness. Mr. Hough was born Feb. 2, 1928 in Jenison, MI, the son of Clarence S. and E. Ethel (Holmquest) Hough. He was a graduate of Allegan High School class of 1945. He had been employed by Rockwell for 30 years and had also farmed on Dumont Rd. for more than 40 years. He will be remembered as an avid outdoorsman, enjoying sports, hunting, fishing, and animals. His first interest in Michigan State Pony Racing led to his interest and activities in the USTA Harness Racing Assoc. Surviving are 3 children, Norma (Michael) Miller of Victorville, CA, Sandra Hough Westin of Fairfax, CA, and Keith (Claudia) Hough of Allegan; 5 grandchildren, Jennifer and Sara Westin and Brian, Kevin and Kelly Hough; 3 step grandchildren, Michele Williams, Sgt. Mark Miller, and Steven Bowerman; 7 step great grandchildren, Nolan and Ryan Williams, McKenna, Hanna and Mason Miller, and Gregory and Ricki Grace Bowerman; 1 sister and 1 brother, Ruth (Jack) Karrer and Emmett (Eileen) Hough, both of Grand Rapids; nephew, Norman Hough; nieces, Sharon Harmsen, Loretta Sandee and Elizabeth Schweikert; several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Ray Hastings. Friends may meet with the family from 12 p.m. Wednesday until time of service at 1 p.m. at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Pastor Joseph Phipps officiating. Interment Hudson Corners Cemetery, Allegan Twp. Memorial contributions may be made to the Allegan Co. Medical Care Facility, Alzheimer's Unit.
