Zephyrhills, Florida, formerly of Allegan, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002 in Florida. Mrs. Kitchel was born Sept. 12, 1911 in Dorr, the daughter of Peter and Emma Kipen. She married Merrill Kitchel June 29, 1935. They lived in Allegan until 1943, when they left to live in Kansas City, Washington D.C., New York City, Wilmington, DE, Seattle, WA, Elmhurst, IL and Swan Lake, near Allegan. The past several years, they have lived in Zephyrhills, FL. She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Zephyrhills and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Allegan. Surviving are her husband, Merrill; 1 daughter and her husband, Mary Joan and Robert Stromberg of Seneca, SC; 1 grandson, Todd Stromberg of Washington D.C.; sister-in-law, Edna Kipen of Pullman; brother-in-law, John Campbell of Allegan and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, 2002 at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment Blessed Sacrament Cemetery, Allegan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice, Allegan County. Arrangements by the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel.
