IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Chester Edwin
Oisten
March 25, 1935 – October 28, 2022
Chester Edwin Oisten, 87 of Allegan, Michigan, passed away Friday, October 28, 2022 at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Born March 25, 1935 in Allegan, Michigan, he was the son of the late Jesse and Dorothy (Miller) Oisten and the husband of Sharon L. (Plotts) Oisten. Chet, as known to most, married the love of his life, Sharon in 1956 and together they raised six children. He served honorably in the United States National Guard and was a lifetime member of the Elks. To say Chet was a man of the land, was an understatement. He loved to play in the dirt with whatever equipment he had on hand. He had a passion for landscaping and loved his rocks. Using his 312 CAT excavator brought him much joy. Taking down trees, using his Kawasaki side by side to haul the trees or just roaming the property was a highlight in his day. Spending time outside and feeling free made a huge impact on Chet. His family always knew where to find him! Chet was also an amazing husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Being with his family and creating memories was more than he could ever ask for in this life. He was blessed with all he had, and he cherished his blessings. Chet is survived by his loving wife, Sharon; his six children, Deborah (Don) Baxter, Tim (Teresa) Oisten, Chris (Christina) Oisten, Mark (Patti) Oisten, Thomas Oisten, and Angela (Gregory) Donahue; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Jim Miller, Don Oisten, Larry Oisten, Helen Oisten, Ellen, Margie and Bonnie. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Chet's name Helen DeVos Children's Hospital, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Wings of Hope Hospice. The family wishes to thank all those that have reached out to them. Your kindness is appreciated. Service Details.
