Obituary

of Allegan, died Friday, May 20, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Kurtz was born January 12, 1925, in Allegan, the son of George and Josephine (Harper) Kurtz. Charlie was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving in WWII, in Normandy, where he received the Bronze Battle Star and the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Allegan VFW Post 3667, Allegan Eagles #2315, and had worked for the Allegan County Road Commission for 42 years. Surviving are his wife, Glenna, 5 children; Jacquelyn and John Tyrrell of Allegan, Darlene and Gilbert Lynn of Vicksburg, Nanette Adkins of Portage, Dane and Cindi Kurtz of Allegan, and Charlene and Don Coon of Hopkins, 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Mable and Louella Holmes both of Otsego, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Charles was preceded in death by his son, Dart, in 1969, as well as his brother, Gilbert. Friends may meet with the family on Monday, May 23, from 6-8 pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel,where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 pm. Chaplain John Neese will officiate. Military graveside services will be conducted by Otsego VFW Post 3030 at Hudson Corners Cemetery, Allegan Twp. Memorials may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice.
