Obituary

Charles W. Carter, 68, of Trowbridge Township, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2016 at his home. Mr. Carter was born in Highland Park, Michigan, on December 30, 1947, the son of Peter and Catherine (Johnson) Carter. He was a 1967 graduate of Henry Ford High School in Detroit, Michigan and went on to attend Western Michigan University. Charles was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Vietnam, and was highly decorated. He was also affiliated with the Disabled American Veterans. Charles was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church in Gobles. He also enjoyed being a member of Ducks Unlimited. Charles became a chemist and worked for BASF in Wyandotte, Michigan; Allegan Metal Finishing; and MOKA. He is survived by his loving wife, Anne; 3 boys: Andrew Carter, Darrick and Stephanie Carter, and David and Amanda Carter; 6 grandchildren: Zeke, Jurien, Ella Mae, Charles, Lucille, and James; 1 step-brother: Gary and Deb Duncan; 2 half-brothers: Randy and Roxanne Duncan, and Kim Duncan; 1 half-sister: Kay and Bob Long. A military graveside service will be held on Friday, March 11th at 2:30 PM at Fort Custer Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan.
