Charles L. Baird, Hopkins, died Monday, March 5, 2007 at the Allegan General Hospital. Mr. Baird was born July 24, 1910 in Lowell, Michigan, the son of James & Hazel (Condon) Baird. Charles graduated from Lowell High School in 1927 and received a business degree from Davenport in Grand Rapids. He owned and operated Hopkins Lumberyard from 1955 to 1975. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Hopkins. As a young man Charles was a Golden Glove Boxer for many years and worked as a policeman in the Flint area. Surviving are his 5 children, James & Karen Baird of IL, Shirley & George Lagos of FL, Daniel Baird of Allegan, Gerald & Betty Baird of NC and Richard & Debra Baird of Hopkins, 16 grandchildren, many great and great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola and a brother, Richard. There will be no visitation, private family services will be held at a later date.
