Charlene (Schroeder) DeLano passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2021. She was born on October 3, 1935, in Grand Rapids, MI, to Gladys and Paul Schroeder. She graduated from Allegan High School. She graduated from Michigan State University with a B.S. degree in Home Economics, Child Development and Teaching, plus a M.A. degree in Education. She was an elementary teacher for 30 years, retiring in 1995, from East Grand Rapids Schools. She lived in Grand Rapids and Shelby and retired in Allegan. She was a past member of the Pentwater Episcopal Church, the church altar guild, the vestry, the ECW Women's Group, The Pentwater Garden Club, The Prodigal Book Club, Michigan Teacher's Association and the DeLano Kindred Society. She is survived by her husband, Herman DeLano; her granddaughter and husband, Bridget and Jon Bartholomew with great-grandson, Harrison Bartholomew and great-granddaughter, Goldie Bartholomew of San Diego, CA; and a brother and his wife, Jack and Pat Schroeder of Fife Lake, MI. She was preceded in death by her son, Paul DeLano. A private cremation service will be held at the Graceland Mausoleum in Grand Rapids, MI.
