Charlene Ann Brinkert, 75, of Allegan, MI passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2023 at Briarwood Assisted Living.  Born November 3, 1948 in Kalkaska, MI, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Ann (Neice) Chalker and was the wife of Jerry James Brinkert.  Charlene graduated high school in 1966 in Kalkaska and went on to earn her degree from Western Michigan University in 1969.  She spent thirty-four years teaching and loved every minute of it.  After retirement, Charlene and Jerry spent their winters in the Florida Keys.  Summers through the years were spent at their cabin on Bois Blanc Island.  She loved to travel and even spent a month in Europe in 1971 seeing the sights on a Triumph Motorcycle.  Charlene enjoyed crafting and spent many hours making beautiful scrap books.  She was an animal lover and had a special fondness for dogs and cats.

In addition to Jerry, her husband of fifty-four years, Charlene is survived by her son, Benjamin (Janis) Brinkert; and her sister, Dawn Chalker.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place.  A celebration of her life will take place at a later date.
