Cheshire Twp., Allegan, MI, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002 at the Allegan General Hospital. Mr. Tuffelmire was born Jan. 23, 1917 in Trowbridge Twp., the son of George and Edna (MacTavish) Tuffelmire. He had owned and operated True Value Hardware Store in Allegan for 45 years, retiring in the late 1980's. He was a longtime member of the Otsego Moose Lodge and had served as trustee on the Cheshire Twp. Board for many years. He had farmed in the Cheshire area and loved raising and training horses. Surviving are his wife, Ethel (Jones), whom he married Jan. 27, 1939; 4 children and their spouses, Tom and Jan Tuffelmire, Al and Loranna Tuffelmire, Linda and Jim Muenzer and Dale and Vicki Tuffelmire, all of Allegan; 12 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Jessie Page of Allegan; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, George and Albert. Friends may meet with the family from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. Pastor Herb Curry officiating. Interment Lindsley Cemetery, Cheshire Twp., MI. Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Kidwell, Chicora Country Chapel, or charity of choice.
