Aged 85, of Hopkins Twp., MI, died Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at Heritage Healthcare Centre, Zeeland. Mr. Gilbert was born June 21, 1920 in Hopkins Twp., the son of Truman and Cora (Spahn) Gilbert. He was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hopkins and had been employed for 31 years at TruHeat, retiring in 1991. Surviving are his wife, Gertrude (Kerber), whom he married June 7, 1952; 4 children and their spouses, Sharon and Jim Arra of Arkansas, Linda and Dan Shaw of W. Olive, Kevin and Rhonda Gilbert of Dorr, and Carl "Eugene" Gilbert of Allegan; 7 grandchildren; 1 sister, Gladys Nicolai of Byron Center; several nieces and nephews. Friends may meet with the family from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, June 4, at Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
