Obituary

Boyd A. Veenkant, 85 of Allegan, died Friday, June 14, 2002 at Metron of Allegan. Mr. Veenkant was born March 7, 1917 in Allegan, MI the son of John and Della (Towner) Veenkant. He was very independent and resourceful upon graduating from high school and was driven to be successful at anything he did. At one time he was a Jeep dealer and had built and operated the Allegan Motel for 8 years. He was a member of the First Congregational Church, and enjoyed hunting and fishing, reading sports magazines and traveling. Boyd thoroughly loved his wife and kids. His family includes his wife, Jessie; 3 children, Raymond & Patricia Veenkant of Alaska, Allen & Carol Veenkant of Freeland, Corinne & Ron Green of Minnesota; 5 grandchildren, Jim, Pam, Trevor, Marisa, and Anne; 1 great granddaughter, Lainey Jo; 1 brother, Ralph Veenkant of Allegan. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held Tuesday 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, Allegan. Pastor Barry Lucas officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery, Allegan. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church or Michigan Parkinson's Foundation.
