of Allegan, died Friday, November 28, 2008 at the Laurels of Sandy Creek in Wayland. Mrs. TerAvest was born June 22, 1917 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Harry and Besse (Long) Blessing. Betty graduated from Chesaning High School, and attended Intercession City Bible College in Florida. She was working at Vennard College in Iowa, as the Dean of Women, when she met Louis TerAvest, whom she has been married to for the past 33 years. She also spent many years as a volunteer at the Allegan General Hospital. She was a member of the Allegan Wesleyan Church. Surviving are her husband, Louis; 5 children, Cindy Harris of Chicago, Rick and Tammy Bailey of IN, Larry and Carol TerAvest of Allegan, Linda and Gary Wierenga of Caledonia and Bill and Sandy TerAvest of Allegan; 7 grandchildren, Nick Bailey and Ashley Bailey, Kris TerAvest and Todd TerAvest, Chad TerAvest, Charles TerAvest and Sara Walker; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd G. Bailey, her son John, 2 brothers, Harry and Richard and her sister, Helen Barton. Friends may meet with the family on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Allegan Wesleyan Church. Pastors Marc Kelley and Todd TerAvest will officiate. Interment Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Holland. Memorials may be made to the Allegan Wesleyan Church Missions in Haiti.
