Betty died on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Allegan County Medical Care Facility. She was born on April 15, 1923 in Bloomington, IL to Edward and Mable (Valentine) Swann. She moved to Michigan in 1947. Betty worked for 16 years as a cook at the Allegan County Medical Care Facility, retiring in 1968. She loved her family and her animals. She also enjoyed reading and gardening. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Andrew Stegeman on December 20, 2005. Surviving are her five children, Dorothy (Jim) Wilson of Allegan, Darlene (Jerry) Gant of Allegan, Don (Joan) Guritz of Hopkins, Diane (David) Linder of Allegan and Chuck (Karisa ) Stegeman of Hopkins; 12 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband she was also preceded in death by a grandson, a daughter-in-law and 12 brothers and sisters. The family will visit with friends from 6-8pm Monday at Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel where funeral services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday with Mr. Comer Skinner officiating. Interment will be at Maplewood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hopkins Athletic Boosters or to the Humane Society.
