April 23, 1925 to January 28, 2013. Betty Jane Simmons, 87, of Sweet Home, Oregon, formally of Monterey Township, passed away at her daughter's home on Jan. 28, 2013. She was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan with her nine siblings, the daughter of Jacob and Dena Rienks. She married Mike Simmons in 1950 and they enjoyed 50 happy years of marriage. She enjoyed shopping for the latest fashions and being with her many friends and family. She had a great sense of humor and big heart open to everyone. Betty is survived by her daughter Sherry and her husband Ed Norgord, four sisters: Erline & husband Doyle Barnes, Delores & husband Jerry Sadowski, Sandra & husband Charlie Mitchell, Sharon & husband Jerry Elburn; two grandchildren, Mike and Laura, 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Mike Simmons, five other brothers and sisters and her parents. Memorial Service will be held at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, August 9, 2013. Comer Skinner will be officiating. An inurnment will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery, Monterey Township. Arrangements are being made by Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel.
