CARNS, Bertha Mary aged 106 of Allegan Twp., MI, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002 at the Allegan County Medical Care Facility. Mrs. Carns was born Feb. 13, 1895 in Allegan, the daughter of George T. And Mary Ann (Edwards) Wilson. She was the oldest member of the First Congregational Church of Allegan. She was a graduate of Allegan High School Class of 1912 and also graduated from County Normal. She attended Ferris State Univ. and taught in several local country schools. Surviving are 4 children and their spouses, Roger and Wanda Carns of Allegan, Marilyn and Thomas Ely of Vicksburg, Irene and David Waanders and Sidney and Mary Ann Carns all of Allegan; 13 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Leroy Carns in 1965, 1 daughter, Iris June, and 3 brothers, Harlan, Ben and Cary. Friends may meet with the family from 3-6 p.m. Sunday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. Pastor Barry Lucas officiating.
