Bernith E. Whisler, Sr., 82 of Allegan, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 11, 2002 at his residence. Mr. Whisler was born October 20, 1919 in Allegan, MI the son of Earl and Nellie (Prescott) Whisler. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army, worked at Menasha Corp. for 28 years retiring in 1981, and was a longtime attender at Merson Church. Mr. Whisler was a good and honest man, and a loving husband and father. His family includes his wife Helen (Lynn); 3 children, Bonnie Woodhams, Susan Hunsberger, Bernith & Dianne Whisler, Jr. all of Allegan; 6 grandchildren, Brenda & Norm Byers, Jodi & Gary Nickell, Lori & Trevor Williams, Christopher Hunsberger, James Hunsberger, and Zachary Whisler; 5 great grandchildren, Jared, Jalynn, Janssen, Payden, Tarryn; 1 brother, Max &Joann Whisler of Allegan; 2 sisters, Doris Adams of Allegan, Barbara Brown of Lawrence. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Doug Woodhams, 1 sister and 1 brother. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. The funeral service will be Friday 11:00 am at Merson Church. Pastors Gail Pike and Norm Byers officiating. Interment Mallory Cemetery, Trowbridge Township, with military honors by the Otsego VFW Post #3030. Memorial contributions may be made to Merson Church or Wings of Hope Hospice.
