Allegan Twp., MI, died Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at the Allegan County Medical Care Facility. Mrs. Maurer was born June 18, 1921 in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Harry and Mayme (Krem) Johnson. She had been employed at the Allegan County Medical Care Facility as a cook for 13 years. Surviving are her husband, Hollis; 6 children, Karen and Jerry Golliver of Muskegon, Garth and Sue Maurer, Pam Haines, Kathy and Steve Melvin, Bruce and Jo Maurer and Diane and Mike Morton, all of Allegan; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; 1 sister, Patricia McElwee of Muskegon; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Steeby; granddaughter, Melinda Mannon, and a son-in-law, Emery Haines. Friends may meet with the family from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. Rev. Fr. Alan P. Jorgensen officiating.
