Obituary

of Allegan, passed away quietly on Sunday, September 5, 2010 at the Briarwood Assisted Living in Allegan at the age of 93, with family members by her side. She was born in Hopkins, Michigan, the daughter of Dr. James and Bessie Campbell. She was a graduate of Western Michigan University and was for many years the Allegan City Librarian. Both she and her late husband, Francis (Tuffy) Hanson were members of the United Methodist Church and active in the Allegan community affairs. Hanson Park in Allegan was dedicated to both Tuffy and Barbara in honor of all the time and effort they gave to their community. Barbara was a Grand Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the D.A.R. She is survived by her brother, John, her sons, James, David and Hugh, grandchildren, Charles, Michael C., Catherine, Stephanie, Andrew, Peter C., Peter H., Matthew, Michael Pomerantz, and great grandchildren, Katrina, Christopher, John, Molly, Alexander, Thomas, Grace, Elizabeth, Chloe and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband and her sisters, Margaret and Charlotte. Friends may meet with the family on Thursday from 6-8 pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. The funeral services will be held on Friday, September 10, at 11 am at the United Methodist Church, 409 Trowbridge St., Allegan. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery will follow immediately after the service. There will be a reception in the parish hall of the Methodist Church at 1 pm Memorials may be made to the South Haven Area Hospice, 05055 Blue Star Highway, South Haven, MI 49090
