Augusta (Gus) Mary Brokus, 96 of Allegan, Michigan, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 29, 2022 surrounded by her family. Born January 9, 1926 in Munich, Germany, she was the daughter of the late August and Theresa (Ilmberger) Haefner and the wife of the late Stan Brokus. Augusta was a faith-filled woman who lived, breathed and worked for her Lord donating her time at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, where she was a lifetime member. She and her husband were blessed with five children, whom they cared for and loved deeply. Spending her free time baking, gardening and feeding the birds brought great joy to Augusta. During her earlier years, Augusta enjoyed teaching at a local country school. She was a giving and nurturing woman who loved watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. The beautiful memories made over the many years of her life will continue to bring smiles and laughter to her family. Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Teresa (John) Bearman, Debbie Brokus, Ric (Cindy) Brokus and Pattie (Mark) Oisten; nine grandchildren, Tammi, Angi, Jamie, Eric Jr., Mandee, Jake, Kelsey, Jessy and Luke; and 11 great-grandchildren, Lane, Mason, Isabella, Jaxson, Evelyn, Carter, Leila, Thea, Lucas, Max and Davi. Along with her parents and her husband, Augusta was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbie Brokus Hunt; and her two siblings, Angela Butzin and Frank Haefner. Friends may meet with the family on Friday, February 4, 2022 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Centrica Care Navigators Hospice, 7100 Stadium Drive, Kalamazoo, MI 49009.
