Obituary

Hopkins, MI, was called to Heaven Wednesday, February 2, 2005. Mr. Blain was born July 15, 1917 in Byron Center, the son of John & Jessie (Rackett) Blain. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hopkins. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served in WWII, and was a life-member of Hopkins V.F.W. Post #7571. Armie worked for Kelvinator in Grand Rapids for more than 36 years, retiring in 1980. On May 16, 1947, he married Clara (Swainston), who survives; also surviving are 2 children, Bert and Sally Blain of Hopkins and Mary and Roger Arndt of Allegan; 4 grandchildren, Tony and Ronna Arndt, Jay and Theresa Arndt, Jason and Sharon Blain and Jennifer and Matthew Frank; 13 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Bob Blain of Cascade, Roger and Beulah Blain of Moline and Ray Blain of Byron Center; 1 sister, Margaret Swainston of Byron Center; several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and very special friends, Doug and Mary Hills of Hopkins. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Joe & Wilmont; and 1 sister, Elsie Hackler. Friends may meet with the family Friday from 1-3 and 5-8 p.m. at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel. Funeral services will be held in ALLEGAN at the Gorden Funeral Residence Saturday at 11 a.m. Pastor Donald Seelhoff officiating. Interment Blain Cemetery, Gaines Twp., MI. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church Building Fund or Wings of Hope Hospice.
