Watson Twp., Allegan, MI, died Friday, April 4, 2003 at the Allegan General Hospital. Mrs. Boelman was born January 1, 1942 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Delbert and Gladys (Finley) DeSmit. She was a graduate of Martin High School, Class of 1958. She had been employed, as a cook, at the William Crispe Community House in Plainwell for more than 25 years, as a cook at the Allegan County Jail and had worked in the kitchen at Dawson Elementary School, Allegan. Surviving are her husband, Jerry; 5 children, James Dussia, Jill and David Chapman, Todd and Tammy Dussia, Leonard and Emma Buys, all of Allegan, and Patrick Wine, and his fiancee, Garnet LaFountain, of Pullman; 8 grandchildren; 1 brother, Michael DeSmit, of Kalamazoo; 1 sister, Sally Jackson, of Dorr. She was preceded in death by a brother, Tim DeSmit. There will be no visitation. Memorial services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Chaplain Bill Bruursema officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to the Boelman family.
