Obituary

Allegan Twp., MI, died Thursday, May 10, 2007 at Metron of Allegan. Mrs. Palenick was born July 26, 1918 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Joe and Louise (Kmiecik) Grudecki. She worked for Seeburg Jukebox and Victor Gasket in Illinois. In the 1930's she moved with her parents to the Paw Paw area, where the family built a dance hall on Lake Brownwood. She later met her husband, John Palenick, there. Anne moved to Allegan in the 1950's, where she became a very active member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the Church Altar Society. She and her husband owned and operated the Allegan Motel for nearly a decade, all the while taking on additional responsibilities as a Church Circle chairperson, Cub Scout den mother and motel manager. She loved to travel and dance, but was most remembered for the help she gave to the elderly when they were in need. Surviving are her husband, John; three sons and their wives, Thomas and Kim Palenick of Paw Paw, John and Diane Palenick of Ann Arbor and Jim and Suzanne Palenick of Rio Rancho, NM; 5 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Friends may meet with the family from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where the rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Alan P. Jorgensen Celebrant. Interment in the Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Blessed Sacrament Altar Society or Alzheimer's Assoc.
