Hopkins, MI, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at his home. Mr. Mays was born December 7, 1921 in Lee County, KY, the son of Samuel and Josephine (Townsend) Mays. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during WWII, and had worked at Arnsman Equipment for more than 20 years. Surviving are his devoted wife of 56 years, Doris; 2 children Mary Strickfaden and Ricky (Brenda) Mays all of Burnips; 10 grandchildren, Charney, Adam, Betsy, Danielle, Jason, Ben, Sammy, Angie, Katie, and Andrew; 11 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Andrea Schulz; 2 son-in-laws, Gordon Schulz and John Strickfaden; brothers, Charlie Green, Stanley, Troy, Daniel, Adams, Burl and Ledford Mays; sisters, Mattie Greathouse and Flossie Hubbard. Friends may meet with the family from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. Pastor Tony Shumaker officiating. Interment Poplar Hill Cemetery, Monterey Twp. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Allegan County 4-H or Wayland Area Ambulance.
