Alyce M. Shimmel-Bywater, 87 of Allegan, died Friday, June 3, 2005 at the Byron Center Manor. Mrs. Bywater was born August 7, 1917 in Cascade, MI the daughter of Robert and Mildred (McGee) Fox. She was a member of the South Monterey United Methodist Church and will be remembered by her family as a loving mother and grandmother. Surviving are 2 sons, Arthur (Carol) Shimmel and Gary (Linda) Shimmel both of Allegan; 4 stepchildren, Pat (Khalid) Oulhadj of Chicago, John Bywater of Alaska, Karen (Tom) Bloomberg of Georgia, and Ellen (Tom) Kelly of Minnesota; 4 grandchildren, David (Noel) Shimmel of Ravenna, Teresa (Tom) Zimmerman of Byron Center, James (Tammy) Shimmel of Allegan, and Lisa Shimmel of California; 7 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by husbands, Melvin "Pat" Shimmel on June 11, 1966 and John Bywater on March 23, 2000. There will be no visitation or funeral service at this time. Interment will be in Poplar Hill Cemetery, Monterey Township. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
