of Hopkins, passed away at her home Wednesday, July 6, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. Age 95 years. Alice Stone was born January 16, 1916, the daughter of the late Walter and Bessie (Finch) Stone. She graduated from Hopkins High School in 1933. Alice worked as an operator for Michigan Bell for five years and then as an operator and office worker for GTE for 20 years. She was a member of Hopkins United Methodist Church. She was married to Charles Joseph on November 20, 1937; he predeceased her on May 1, 2002. Surviving are a daughter, Jacqueline and Elgin Vines of Grand Rapids; a son, James and Glenda Joseph of Holland; four grandchildren, Amy (Ken) Cheyne, Angie (Chris) Casola, Nicole Vines and her fiancAC. Ryan Verlin and Michele (Monica) Vines; five great-grandchildren, Connor, Taylor and Katherine Cheyne; Kyle and Nathan Casola; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son, Jon Scott Joseph on January 15, 2009; two brothers; and four sisters. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday at the Hopkins United Methodist Church Hall. Funeral service will take place at 12:00 noon on Saturday at the Hopkins United Methodist Church. Pastor Linda Burton will officiate with burial in Lakeview Cemetery.
