Otsego Twp., Allegan, MI, died Friday, September 24, 2004 at home with her family by her side. Mrs. Germain was born September 29, 1913 in Gun Plain Twp., MI, the daughter of Frank and Laura (Reese) Stearns. She graduated from Western MI Univ. with a teaching degree and taught elementary school for 25 years at both the country schools and at Allegan Public Schools. She was a special grandmother and a remarkable person who never complained about anything in life. She was united in marriage to her husband, Kenneth, on Sept. 24, 1938, and he preceded her in death in 1998. Surviving are 2 daughters and their husbands, Ruth and Glenn Wiley and Barbara and Larry Weaver, all of Allegan; 4 grandchildren and their spouses, Laura and Bruce Modreske, Dawn and Rick Hoyer, Todd and Shannon Weaver, and Michele and Ken Arthur; 12 great grandchildren; 1 sister-in-law, Jewell Germain of Otsego; several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Jeff Weaver, in 2004, and 2 brothers, Horace and George Stearns. Friends may meet with the family from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. Graveside services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Mountain Home Cemetery, Otsego. Pastor Joseph Spackman officiating. The family wishes to give special thanks to Wings of Hope Hospice, especially Marilyn, and suggests memorial contributions be given to Hospice.
