Obituary

Hopkins, MI, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, July 2, 2006 at her home. She had been a proud resident of Hopkins for more than 60 years and loved her small community. Jo was born May 13, 1923 in Arkansas City, KS, the daughter of Vance and Lena (Miller) Ice. She spent her early years in Gridley, KS, another small town that held many happy memories for her. Her family moved to Allegan in the mid 1930's. She was a 1941 graduate of Allegan High School. In 1941, she married Leland "Lee" Buck and moved to Hopkins. They were very active citizens of the community throughout their 47 years of marriage. They also owned a summer home on Gun Lake for many years. Mr. Buck passed away in 1988. In 1993, Jo married Donald Lindeman, Sr. They spent 13 happy years together. Jo was a devoted wife and doting grandmother. She had many talents which she generously shared over the years. She was gifted with an exceptional singing voice, was an excellent cook and baker and sewed beautifully. She is survived, and will be greatly missed, by her husband, Donald Lindeman, Sr.; 3 children and their spouses, Charlotte and Bruce Carey of Elgin, IL, Linden "Lin" and Janice Buck of Rockford and Edward and Sarah Buck of Grand Rapids; 4 step-children and their spouses, Sherrill and Norman Ball of Holland, Donald and Jane Lindeman, Jr. of Grand Rapids, Robert and Julie Lindeman of Fairfax Station, VA and Barbara and Chris DeVos of Holland; 5 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 5 step-great-grandchildren; many other loving relatives and friends. Also preceding her in death were her parents and beloved sister, Evelyn, and brother-in-law "Bub" Goodwin. Friends may meet with the family from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel where a Celebration of Life service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. Rev. Chris DeVos officiating. Private interment Oakwood Cemetery, Allegan.
