Hazel Mae Brown (Platt), 99, passed away on October 1, 2017. She was born in Plymouth, Michigan on August 13, 1918, the daughter of the late Fred G. Platt and Coral B. (Gray) Platt. Hazel was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She graduated from Fennville High School in 1937. She was a homemaker and longtime member of the Allegan Draft Horse Association. She also was a member of the Allegan United Methodist Church. She is survived by her brother, Ralph "Red" Platt, two daughters; Karole Melissa Brown and Sharon Melinda "Shari" (Pat) Bradley. Hazel also leaves behind four grandchildren; Clinton VanNocker, Troy (Jody) Prime, Annie (Van) Braatz, and Mindy (Lane) Sturman, and ten great-grandchildren; Chas, Jackson and Cole VanNocker, Taylor and Logan Braatz, Mackenzie, Jack and Morgan Sturman, Cade and Colt Prime. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband Charles "Charlie" E. Brown. Hazel and Charlie were dairy farmers and clerked farm auction sales for many years. Hazel was also preceded in death by her three siblings; Robert (Willeen) Platt, Raymond Platt, and Carol Platt Tompkins. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday October 7, 2017 at Gorden Funeral Residence in Allegan from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with a service beginning at 1:00 PM. A graveside service at Hudson Corners Cemetery will follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made out to Wings of Hope Hospice or The Merson Church Youth Ministry.
