Derek Dane Looman

Derek Dane Looman, 61, of Allegan, MI passed away Friday, July 7, 2017 at Allegan General Hospital following a brief battle with cancer. Born April 10, 1956 in Allegan, he was the son of Kay Foster Looman and the late Douglas Dwayne Looman and was the husband of Denise Ann Jackson Looman. Mr. Looman served his country proudly during the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Marine Corps in Okinawa. He later went to work for Perrigo as a printer for many years. Upon retirement, Mr. Looman was able to dedicate much more time to his hobbies, which included growing corn and raising animals on his hobby farm, hunting, fishing and pigeon racing. He also enjoyed taking trips to the casino with Denise. Above all else, however, his family was his greatest joy and his biggest source of pride. There was nothing Mr. Looman delighted in more than being a husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his mother and his wife of nearly thirty-four years, he is survived by his children, Derek D. (Patricia) Looman and Emily Looman (Mark Keedle); his grandchildren, Faith Looman, Hailee Madalinski, Lacie Madalinski and Kacey Keedle; great-grandchild, Cameron Lindsley; brother, Dennis (Margaret) Looman; sisters, Denise (Richie) Priebe and Diane Looman; and his faithful and beloved canine companions, Bella and Dexter. Along with his father, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Dianna; and his parents-in-law, Orval and Dorothy Jackson. Mr. Looman has many other family members and friends both living and deceased that loved him. He will be dearly missed. A memorial service will take place at a later time.
