Sharon Lee Vahue, 74, of Allegan, Michigan, passed away Thursday, July 23rd at Wings Home, Wings of Hope Hospice in Allegan after a courageous battle with cancer.
Sharon was born on September 5th, 1945, in Allegan, to the late Donald Koperski and Geraldine (Oisten) Koperski and was the oldest of five siblings. She graduated from Allegan High School in 1963 and continued to maintain and cherish friendships with her 1963 classmates throughout her lifetime. (The family wishes to thank classmate Val Smith for her loving support, especially during her stay at Wings Home!) Sharon married the love of her life, Garry Vahue in 1975 and they raised their two children together in Allegan. She worked at Flashes Publishers for several years and then dedicated her life to being a loving wife and mother. Throughout her life, Sharon also proved to be a loving daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, friend and her most cherished title of grandmother. When her health allowed, she and Grandpa Garry faithfully attended the grandkids’ events including ball games, plays, a Bat Mitzvah, Christmas programs, etc. Anyone who knew Sharon knows that her passion was spending time with her family and friends. She loved attending family reunions, holiday gatherings or any event where her loved ones were involved. She especially loved spending time with her special friend Jodi Carra. Sharon mentioned many times how happy she was to have Jodi to “pal around” with and how grateful she was to have her in her life. Jodi’s loving comfort and support were greatly appreciated by Sharon and her family, especially during her final days.
In addition to her husband Garry, Sharon is survived by her two children, Jonathan (Claire) Vahue and Lauri (John) Arver; her siblings, Donald (Sarah) Koperski, Thomas Koperski, Mary (Koperski) Miller, and Mark Koperski; her grandchildren, Eliana, Isaac, Gracen, Luka, Matthew, Trent (Sarah) Arver, Travis (Trinity) Arver and Bryce (Sarah) Arver. She is also survived by treasured uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Gerry Koperski, father-in-law, Jerry Vahue and mother-in-law, Stella Vahue.
Due to current circumstances, a private service will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Allegan on Wednesday, July 29th at 11:00 a.m. A “Celebration of Life” honoring Sharon will be planned for a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed toward Wings of Hope Hospice in Allegan or the American Cancer Society.
