Obituary

Nina Mae (Steffes) Bergholtz, 87, of Allegan, MI passed away Friday, June 28, 2019 at Vicinia Gardens in Otsego. Born March 22, 1932 in Ontonagon, MI, she was the daughter of the late Sebastian and Mary (Burns) Steffes and was the wife of the late William C. Bergholtz. Mrs. Bergholtz was a member of the graduating class of 1951 from Otsego High School. She worked as a bank teller and retired from PNC Bank, formerly 1st National Bank of Allegan. She was a longtime, dedicated member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where she found great joy in tending to the gardens, arranging the flowers for mass and coordinating the funeral luncheons. Mrs. Bergholtz and her husband were avid campers. They loved to travel, especially to northern Michigan or to their winter home in Indialantic, Florida.

Mrs. Bergholtz is survived by her children, Kathy Brown, Mike Bergholtz and Eric Huff. She is also survived by her childhood pen-pal and lifelong friend, Joan Clutten. The pair traveled across the Atlantic between the United States and United Kingdom to visit one another throughout the years. Along with her parents, Sebastian and Mary, and her husband of sixty years, William, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Russell Brown.

The family will receive friends at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM. A memorial mass will begin at 11:00 AM and inurnment will follow at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, 222 North Kalamazoo Mall, Suite 100, Kalamazoo, MI 49007. We are so sorry Kathy for the loss of your Mon. If there is anything we can do just let us know. If you just want to talk I have plenty of time. I know how hard it is to lose your parent. Prayers to you and your family.

Dear Sweet Nina. The first person who greeted us when we joined Blessed Sacrament. I will miss her and her smiles always. The last time I saw her she was getting her hair done at Class Act. She is loved by many. She will be in my prayers. I know she is singing with the angels.
