MaryLou Heffelfinger, 80, of Allegan, MI passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Allegan County Medical Care Community. Born August 22, 1940 in Allegan, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Mildred (Cornell) Stewart. MaryLou had worked for Dog Life in Hamilton and had been an upholsterer for Haworth but loved the years she spent as a school bus driver the best. She was talented with needlework and spent many hours knitting and crocheting throughout her life. One of her favorite passions was for fast cars, that is until her daughter, Julie, turned sixteen. The Christmas season provided cherished memories of baking special goodies with her sister, Jean, and niece, Joan. Family meant a great deal to MaryLou and she was happiest when she was surrounded by the ones she loved, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie (Joseph) Munn; grandchildren, Kristin (Steve) Green, Courtney (David) Kortman and Joshua (Tessa) Munn; and great-grandchildren, Austin, Carson, Jaxsen, Caroline and Rowen. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Jean Lohman and Gail Stewart.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in MaryLou’s name to the Alzheimer's Association Michigan Chapter, 25200 Telegraph Rd., Suite 100, Southfield, MI 48033 (www.alz.org) or Camp Beechpoint, 3212 125th Ave., Allegan, MI 49010 (http://beechpoint.org/). The family wishes to thank the Allegan County Medical Care Community staff for their great care. Special thanks to Eric for always making her smile even on her grumpy days. Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, is assisting the family with arrangements.
