Obituary for Kevin Charles Stevenson

Kevin Charles Stevenson passed away Saturday, August 1, 2020 at his home in Wayland, MI. Born February 21, 1979 in Allegan, MI, he was the eldest child of David Lloyd Stevenson and the late Charlotte Ann (Butler) Jones. Kevin defied the odds given to him at birth by living forty-one years full of happiness and love. He loved spending time with his family and those he loved as much as possible and he always was sure to remind his siblings that he was the big brother. Kevin thrived on routine. For the past twenty years he made sure he visited Subway for lunch and frequently visited his "girlfriends" at the speedway near Allegan High School to get snacks. He also enjoyed walking around downtown and stopping in Village Market to see familiar faces. Kevin liked hanging out at home too. Putting together puzzles and listening to music, especially Michael Jackson, amongst others. He also enjoyed talking on the phone and calling to check on his loved ones, especially his grandparents. Kevin loved to watch Law and Order and enjoyed discussing the episodes with his sister, Nicole, who was his best friend. Kevin was also an avid football fan who rarely missed watching a Detroit Lions or University of Michigan game.

In addition to his father, David Stevenson, Kevin is survived by his paternal grandmother, Marjorie (Stevenson) Brown; his siblings, Nicole Stevenson, Kelsey Somerville, Breanne McCarty and Deion Stevenson; nieces and nephews, Tyree, Amarie, Jayde, Michael “Bubba” and Jameson; aunts, Anita Butler, Diana Williams and Della Dandrige; and a host of cousins, family friends and caretakers. Kevin’s family wishes to extend special thanks to Cynthia and Judy for their years of dedicated care and love.

Along with his mother, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Charles Butler; maternal grandmother, Shirley Butler; paternal grandfather, Jesse Stevenson; and aunt, Beverly Butler.

Kevin was so full of life and brought joy to everyone he encountered. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be planned for a later date. Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, is assisting the family with arrangements.
