Jean Warren, 95, of Allegan, MI passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2020. She was born to Glenn and Bertha Smith on May 6, 1925 in Falcon, KY.

As a teen, Jean moved to Michigan and eventually went to work at Blood Brothers Factory where she met her future husband, Wayne Warren. She raised a family and later returned to work at the Allegan Intermediate School District.

Jean loved to travel and have new adventures. She took many trips and never turned down a motorcycle ride, sailing, or a hot air balloon flight. She also attended the Kentucky Derby the year Secretariat won.

Jean was an active volunteer at the First Baptist Church, volunteering countless hours to ministry, Kids Hope, and the Allegan Music Club. Her list of friends was long, and she always provided a listening ear to those in need.

Her friends and family will miss her beautiful smile and her timeless elegance. She was a true southern lady, always dressed to the nines.

Her influence and love will last through many years after she is gone.

Jean is survived by her children, Lynn Hale, Dr. Timothy (Beverlee) Warren, and Debra (Steve) Mancuso; grandchildren, Warren (Linda) Hale, Shawn (Laura) Warren, Shad (Courtney) Warren, Shalimar Warren (James Barefield), Daniel Mancuso (Erin Mather), and Meredith (Caleb) Vanderhill; twelve great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, on Friday, October 9, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Due to COVID 19 and in accordance with current regulations, visitors will be asked to wear masks and practice social distancing. Occupancy restrictions will be enforced. Jean will be laid to rest privately beside her husband in Hudson Corners Cemetery.

Our hearts were sadden by the loss of Jean but also rejoicing as she is now with Jesus! We were so blessed to friends with Jean and had lived so close to her as well. She was one of the wisest Christian ladies I knew, besides my own grandmother who also lived to the age of 95, but had passed many year prior. I was honored to present Jean with a huge diamond ring (Avon) at our Ladies retreat in 2009. She was so excited as she said that was the only thing she never had in her life. I made sure I got one just for her. At the last Mother’s Day Sunday that Jean was at church she blessed me with taking a photo with me. I always thought of her as family and that picture will always be special to me. I just want to thank her family for sharing Jean with all of us at FBC-Allegan as she was truly loved! We were so sorry we were out of town for her funeral but know your family was in our prayers.

I have many good memories of Jean and Wayne. Debbie and I were best friends in our teen years . Many sleepovers back and forth between our homes. Mr.and Mrs. Warren were always so patient with our teen age antics and loudness! But we had a lot of fun. One year, Jean took Debbie and I camping at Holland State Park.....I still remember the fun we had there. It says a lot about her patience to take two teen girls camping!!! I will always treasure these memories. My prayers are with Lynn, Tim and Debbie at this time. So sorry for your loss.

Thanks Leanne. We were lucky to have good parents. I really remember that camping trip. So much fun. Take care.

Aww, sweet family.....I will be forever blessed with memories of Miss Jean. From the very first time I met her at Pier Cove to the time she wore my leather jacket and held her arms wide open as she rode on the back of my husbands motorcycle at more than 70 miles per hour with a VERY BIG SMILE on her face. Miss jean taught me more about being graceful than anyone I will ever know. She taught me that it was ok to tell
people “no”. I always said, that when I grow up,I want to be as beautiful as Miss Jean. I feel your loss.

Awwww. Thanks Lucy. She was blessed with so many good friends. Sorry I missed you today.
